I'll be honest. I liked the album the first time I heard it, but hearing it again today almost reminds of going back to time when my world was - still simple. Guess I could say I know better now.
As for the album. She should stick to her stage musicals and voiceovers. That's where the talent in her vocals truly belong. Unless these songs from this album were blended in the form of animations or musicals then I'd say these songs might've been taken a little seriously, but I've always noticed her voice could and would never fall into a Pop genre category.

Summary: Tip of the iceberg of Lea's talent
Comment: Lea Salonga is a perfect singer - she's got one of the best voices this world has ever heard, therefore she became one of the best loved and admired musical stage performers (leading parts in Miss Saigon, Flower Drum Song or unforgettable Les Miserables Anniversary Concert). Just hear Lea's rendition of "On My Own" and die. Such is the power of the gift she's got from God. But is her power always used for the right purposes? Not always. And this pop album proves that. Of course Lea's voice shines as usual, however the mediocre pop songs don't work for her. If only someone had given Lea better material...Not that the tracks are unlistenable, they're just "nice" and Lea deserves something much bigger, something spectacular. Listening to this album, you may find yourself asking: "What's that beautiful voice doing here?". Most of the stuff is like I've-heard-it-all-before...
Okay, now some good news! The album has a few highlights and they are: "Vision Of You" - great song, very memorable and sensual; "We Could Be In Love" - superb duet with Brad Kane, the song is rather humble but really heart-warming and honest; "The Journey" - the final track on the album, and definitely the best one, it's just wonderful, dreamy, nostalgic yet uplifting - the one you'd like to hear closing the important chapter in your life - this song is the best reason to get the album!
Summing up, Lea's self-titled cd is an OK album; nothing revolutionary but pretty satisfying to a pop music fan. Personally, I prefer the musical style of Lea's music; her concert albums are like heaven for the ears - live singing truly showcases her fenomenal talent! I believe (and dream) that Lea will record an album really worth her Voice, "the World's 8th Wonder". You go, Lea!

Summary: The best voice!
Comment: I bought this album after Lea Salonga's amazing performance in the the Les Miserables 10th Anniversary Concert. She just has the best voice! And this album shows her flexibility -- she delivers pop songs as wonderfully as she does Broadway songs. "The Journey" is one of the most memorable songs here, and many other singers (such as New York crooner Tom Andersen and performer/TV host Kathie Lee Gifford who have both recorded the song) have sung it, but no one has been able to perform it as well as Ms. Salonga has.
I'm glad that she's decided to hit the concert scene again (people have been clamoring to see her in concert for ages!) and that in addition to her sold-out events in Maui, Honolulu, and Guam, she has included Manila and all the major cities in the U.S. mainland in her concert tour.
This is one truly international performer whose voice one won't tire listening to!

Comment: Had this cd when it was first released. I give a 5 for Lea's voice (obviously she sounds younger, lol!) and a 4 stars for the album. The best song here is Journey! For Lea fans, look for the following cds (don't know if amazon has them):

Summary: Exceeds Expectations
Comment: This is the first online purchase that i made from amazon.com, along with my SAT reviewers. Lea Salonga's impeccable voice will surely have you craving for more.I was fortunate enough to visit the Philippines last year and got all of her available recordings,in addition to my fds, ms, les miz recordings, 11 all in all, including one that was recorded when she was still young (i assume she was younger than 12).And in addition to that, i get to watch the Songs from home live, which is in Filipino, except for the song Two WOrds which she sang at her wedding.Lucky for me, we have subscription to The Filipino CHannel. She's really a joy to watch, her voice far exceeds the so-called singers of today (and people who fancy themselves singers).She may or may not impress Simon Cowell, but one cannot deny that she is way better than most of the contestants in American Idol.
This cd is so different from her other recordings, i especially enjoyed the songs "The Journey" (I used it as background music for the video montage for my own debutante's ball,and my friend's quincenera),"It's Just Goodbye", I HOnestly Love You, and We Could be in love. I just hope amazon.com will start selling her other recordings so I won't have to bother my friends to send me cds . Anyway, I got most of her cds for less than 10 bucks (I think it was 375 pesos for most of her cds) so i'm not complaining, plus the Philippines is full of talented singers, so i'm very keen on visiting the country.
