Customer Rating: Summary: The One and Only Comment: The one and only Charmaine Clamor outdoes herself in her debut album, that only whets the appetite. Her outstanding voice and good looks leaves one begging for more. You could say "clamoring" for more Charmaine. :) What's really cool about "Searching for the Soul" is that if you listen carefully to it, you will find your own and so much more. Charmaine has a way of expressing universal emotions through her unique instrument: her voice. I also have "Flippin' Out" and eagerly await her next release. She is one of my Top Five vocalists in any genre. Customer Rating: Summary: Soulful! Comment: This is the recording that got the legend started. If you didn't know this was Charmaine Clamor's first CD, you might think from the confident and soulful singing that it was her greatest hits. Some of the songs are very sensual, even sexy, which is a quality that has carried on in her subsequent work. When I hear "Flippin' Out," it reminds me of some of her earlier creations on this debut CD, which have the same sort of classy yet "dirty" energy. She sings "I'm in the Mood for Love" on this great CD, and I can tell you that it ALWAYS puts me in the right frame of mind. Do yourself a favor: Get this CD in your collection (along with some candles and a bottle of red wine), and then see her live! Customer Rating: Summary: Soulful! Comment: On her first album, Charmaine Clamor might claim to be "searching" for the soul, but there's no doubt that she's found it. From the opening lines of "Come Sunday" to the finale of "The Nearness of You" this extraordinary singer puts her special vocal sauce on a seriously soulful collection of classics. You might say she's "going to church" on this album, but nobody has ever been this sexy in a chapel.
Prediction: Like they said on NPR, she's going to be one the great ones. Customer Rating: Summary: Flipping for Charmaine Comment: I have been hearing Charmaine Clamor on the radio for some time now and always associated her with jazz standards, such as the ones she did on this album, "Searching for the Soul." There's some of that on her new album "Flippin' Out" -- check out her exceptionally sultry version of "Hadn't Anyone Until You." But now Clamor is giving us songs of her native culture, and you can hear in her beautiful voice a profound connection with the material. The lullaby she sings, for example, is a wonderfully healing performance. And what she does with "Be My Love" is something like genius. I've completely "flipped" for Charmaine. She's a major artist just coming into her own. Be sure to check out "Flippin' Out" if you dig this album! Customer Rating: Summary: Astonishing Comment: This is a debut release? Charmaine Clamor has the vocal confidence and expressiveness of someone with 30 albums under her belt. What an astonishing debut. I'm already making a place in my collection for her next one.
Listen to her sing "Since I Fell for You" and you realize what they mean by "star quality." All I can say is wow!
