Spotlight customer reviews:
Customer Rating: Summary: Works Perfect. Comment: After investigating options I finally decided on the Linksys I-Phone based mostly on other customer reviews which proved to be correct.
I was worried basically about the quality of the conection having heard of negative feedback from people who had purchased similar phones. Poor sound quality, breaking off, etc. This however was not the case with the Linksys phone.
The phone installs very easily and is very simple to operate. I use it at the office and am so satisfied with it that I recently purchased an additional extension for my secretary. Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent Product! Comment: I received my Linksys iPhone CIT 400 the other day and it is an outstanding product. Easy to set up - didn't even read the instruction manual, sleek design, and "just works" (with both Skype and landline).
Set up was fairly straight forward, look at the plugs and included cords - plug them in! Design is modern and the black/silver scheme will fit into any tech office. I happen to have an aluminum iMac, so it looks great! Skype was easy to set up, just follow the on screen tutorial when the phone first turns on. I have Skype with unlimited US and Canada calling - because you sign into your account, it already knows the settings, including address book. It also shows how much SkypeOut credit (in dollars) is left - for the calls not covered by US and Canada. Landline was also easy to set up and you can tell the phone to default call from SkypeOut or your landline. There was really no "set up" for the landline - it just works.
For the people who complain about the connection quality of the product - that is completely dependent on your internet speed - it has nothing to do with the actual Linksys product.
I really can't say enough great things about this product. The only downside is: expensive expansion handsets. The only downside of Skype is: no 911 calling.
I highly recommend this product, especially since getting it for the recent Gold Box deal of $79.99. Customer Rating: Summary: Occasional reboot needed Comment: This thing just works as described. Once every couple of months I will have to unplug it and leave the power off for a few seconds to "reboot" it, but that is only a minor inconvenience compared to the benefits of being able to use skype away from the computer. Customer Rating: Summary: Landline integration sucks! Comment: Very dissapointed with the Linksys CIT400's landline capabilties. I bought one for use in India. The skype works fine, but for the landline it never rang properly for incoming calls (made a few sad bleating sounds - I tried changing the ring tone no use). Off late it has started ringing at odd times of its own accord but no rings for incoming calls! After every call it goes mad and I have to answer and disconnect at least 3-4 times before it settles down. :-( i've disconnected the landline now... Customer Rating: Summary: It can perform better Comment: I have been using the Skype Linksys CIT400 for some time now. It can be better, especially the battery life.
But it keeps our family in contact all the time. My brothers and I are using it as an intercom between continents.
It is pefect for phoning family members.
